Cat Urinating In House - A Quick Look Into The Matter....

So why do cats urinate?

Cat urination is a normal way of life, just like any other animal and being on this planet, what goes in must come out somehow.

Reasons cats pee

There are many reasons why your cat will urinate...

  • Mark their territory
Cats are very territorial animals and to mark their territory they may pee everywhere and anywhere as a mark to say "this is my area"
  • As a calling card
Some cats do a type of urination called spraying where they stand up, back up to a vertical object and release a jet or urine on it. This is like a calling card that is nose height for other cats to tell them "I was here".
  • Infection
Some cats will urinate because they have an infection. Urinary tract infections are common in cats and can be the reason your cat is urinating everywhere. The first thing you should do is take your cat to the vet to double check that they don't have the infection, don't worry if they do as this is easily treatable.

If your cat doesn't have an infection the next step for you is to figure out why your pet is marking/spraying in the house and the next few posts will help you figure how to stop cat urinating in house.
